Highlights
Join us at CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile) for a summer filled with creativity! This two-day summer camp is specially designed for children aged 4 to 7, with no prior craft experience required. The activities aim to encourage children to explore the intersection of nature and textile craftsmanship through hands-on practice.
Program
In this interactive summer camp, children will journey from seeking inspiration in nature to crafting their own unique creations:
- Day 1: Nature Observation and Natural Dyeing: Participants will visit the Roof Garden at The Mills to observe the various plants featured in the "Seeds of Learning 2026" project and record their forms through drawing. Afterward, they will learn block printing and natural dyeing techniques to infuse their fabrics with organic colors and patterns.
- Day 2: Hat Molding and Sewing: At the CHAT Lab, children will use the fabric prepared on the first day to mold, hand-sew, and decorate their very own sun hats. They will also design and create their own badges and straps to make their hats stylish and practical for everyday use.
