Program Overview
Following last year's successful phase-one presentation, where the evocative line 'the tip of the pen rises and falls' captured the struggle of China's first female painter to study in France, the musical Yuliang returns with a major production supported by the China National Arts Fund. The show delves deeper into the life of Pan Yuliang, exploring her relentless pursuit of art despite the restrictions of her gender and the era. Her journey is a testament to how art saved her from drowning in society, allowing her to cement her legacy.
The musical weaves together drama, music, dance, and multimedia art to narrate her life, from her apprenticeship under Hong Ye and studies in Shanghai to her transformative years in France and her return as a mentor. It is a heartfelt tribute to a legend who masterfully fused Eastern and Western aesthetics.
Immersive Experience
The performance is structured into two parts:
- Part 1: The venue transforms into an exhibition of Pan Yuliang's works, integrated with the musical's narrative, allowing the audience to explore her artistic world before the drama begins.
- Part 2: The full musical performance, running approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes without an intermission.
*Note: Due to venue capacity, entrance to some exhibition zones is on a first-come, first-served basis. Your patience and understanding are appreciated.
