Overview

Spring-Time Experimental Theatre presents a poignant staging of "The Mad Phoenix," chronicling the turbulent life of the legendary playwright Kong Yu-kau (Nam Hoi Sap Sam Long). Born into an affluent family, he was a literary genius known for his eccentric character and uncompromising spirit in the 1920s and 30s. He was a prolific writer, famously capable of crafting four distinct scripts simultaneously. The play explores his profound bond with his mentors and his student, Tong Tik-sang, while delving into his passionate, yet ultimately tragic, devotion to his art.

The production masterfully captures his roller-coaster existence: from a celebrated playwright to a destitute wanderer on the streets. Beyond his artistic brilliance, the narrative delves into his long-standing, unrequited love for a woman he cherished for decades. This performance is produced by Clifton Ko and directed by Jiao Yuan, showcasing the talent of graduates from the first to third intake of the 'Heritage Performing Arts Training Course'.

Venue & Access

The play will be held at the Tuen Mun Town Hall Auditorium. The venue is easily accessible via the MTR Tuen Ma Line (Tuen Mun Station) and various bus routes serving the Tuen Mun town centre.
