Highlights

Built in 1922, the former Yau Ma Tei Police Station is not only one of the few surviving pre-war police stations in Hong Kong but also the iconic setting for countless classic Hong Kong police films. Now, the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency has opened this historical landmark, transforming it into an immersive exhibition space that combines industry creativity. Visitors can step into the world behind the silver screen and experience the intensity and intrigue of the Hong Kong police-crime genre.

Four Core Zones

The exhibition features four carefully designed scenes that blend fictional movie aesthetics with the station's authentic architecture:

  • "Cinema Entrance": Inspired by old-school cinemas, this zone serves as a gateway into the cinematic world.

  • "Time Tunnel": Features immersive visuals and sound to showcase iconic action sequences from historical Hong Kong crime films.

  • "Detective Office": A meticulously recreated 1970s-80s police station set, complete with a surveillance room, armory, and evidence room, perfect for hunting for movie clues and photo opportunities.

  • "Detention Cell": A formerly restricted area now open to the public, offering a unique opportunity to "step into the scene" with props and backgrounds.

Exhibition Concept

From the hyper-realistic designs of the early decades to the high-tech glass walls of Infernal Affairs and the post-modern facilities in Cold War, Hong Kong film art directors have constantly pushed boundaries. This exhibition highlights these creative feats and provides insights into the production process from the perspective of the behind-the-scenes masters.
