Program Overview
The "Outreach Music Short Courses," organized by the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), are dedicated to promoting music education by providing a diverse range of learning opportunities. The program includes both Chinese and Western instrumental courses, spanning from introductory levels to advanced study, catering to learners of all levels.
Course Content
Scheduled from March to August 2026, the courses feature:
- Introductory Courses: Including Classical Guitar, Ukulele, Hulusi, Keyboard, and General Music Knowledge.
- Instrumental Training: Offering a variety of Chinese and Western instruments such as Erhu, Guzheng, Yangqin, Dizi, Violin, Cello, Flute, Clarinet, and Saxophone.
- Music Theory & Aural Training: Providing Grade 1 and 2 Music Theory classes and Aural Training.
- Ensemble Courses: Focusing on Chinese and Western ensemble performance.
- Special Workshops: Introducing the new "Chinese Ensemble Composition Workshop," which integrates MuseScore4 software training, and the "Keyboard (Numbered Musical Notation) Course" for students with a foundation in the instrument.
Venue & Access
Classes are held at various LCSD performance venues and Music Office centres across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories, including the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Ngau Tau Kok, Sha Tin Town Hall, Kwai Tsing Theatre, Yuen Long Theatre, Ko Shan Theatre, and the Hong Kong Central Library. Selected courses, such as "Introduction to Music," will be conducted online via Zoom.
Registration & Ticketing
Course fees range from HK$320 to HK$1,440. Interested individuals can apply via the Music Office website or obtain application forms at various LCSD venues and Music Office centres. The application deadline is January 15. If the number of applicants exceeds the quota, places will be allocated by ballot. Remaining spots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from February 12 onwards.
