Highlights
"The Taste of Memory" is a brand-new original multimedia musical theatre production by Windmill Grass Theatre, returning seven years after their acclaimed work "The Memory of Hong Kong." Collaborating with designers and performers through months of extensive field research, interviews, and public workshops, the company brings the collective memory of Hong Kong's culinary culture to the stage.
Program
Using the sense of taste as a key to unlock the past, this production utilizes theatre's unique narrative and participatory elements to guide audiences through Hong Kong's gastronomic history. From the intricate techniques of traditional Cantonese cuisine to the hearty flavors of Hakka poon choi in Sha Tau Kok, and the deeply personal, nostalgic cooking of our grandmothers, the production captures these intangible, comforting experiences. Each chapter of the performance aims to recreate these "tastes of memory" that belong uniquely to our generation.
