Highlights

The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) proudly presents "New Year Celebration: Amour and Adieu." Led by conductor Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, this concert invites audiences on an emotive journey through festive joy and nostalgic departures, perfectly framing the transition from the old year to the new one through masterful orchestral storytelling.

Program

The concert features a curated repertoire designed to evoke a spectrum of emotions. The evening begins with the festive and lighthearted "Wine, Women and Song" by Johann Strauss II. This is followed by the vibrant colors of Falla’s "Seven Spanish Folksongs" and the fiery, passionate excerpts from Bizet’s "Carmen."

A centerpiece of the evening is Haydn’s Symphony No. 45 in F-sharp minor, the "Farewell" Symphony. Known for its innovative and humorous finale where musicians exit the stage, it serves as a musical farewell to the closing year. The concert concludes with Ravel’s "Boléro," where a simple, hypnotic melody gradually builds to a magnificent orchestral climax, signaling a spirited welcome to the year ahead.
