In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, this special concert brings together the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. Program

The concert features a thoughtfully curated selection of significant works:

  • Jean Sibelius: Finlandia, Op. 26 — A powerful depiction of national spirit and resilience.
  • Zhao Jiping: Violin Concerto No. 1 — A masterpiece by master composer Zhao Jiping, blending Western concerto structure with distinct Chinese melodic textures.
  • Yellow River Piano Concerto — Adapted by Yin Chengzong, Liu Zhuang, Chu Wanghua, Sheng Lihong, Shi Shucheng, and Xu Feixing, this monumental work will be performed by the 'aristocratic' virtuoso Aristo Sham.
  • Bedřich Smetana: Má vlast: 'Vltava' — A symphonic poem capturing the beauty of the national landscape.
