Legendary pianist Sir Stephen Hough makes a triumphant return to the stage of Premier Performances of Hong Kong (PPHK). As a marquee event for PPHK's 20th Anniversary Season, Sir Stephen Hough presents a meticulously curated recital program that highlights his four decades of artistic excellence. This concert is a rare opportunity for local music lovers to experience the depth and unique stylistic voice of an artist who has received eight Gramophone Awards, among many other international honors.
Program
This musical journey spans the breadth of the Classical and Romantic repertoires, with an intriguing inclusion of Hough's own arrangements. The first half features delicate character pieces leading into the monumental strength of Beethoven's "Waldstein" Sonata. The second half highlights the vivid, multifaceted musical landscape of Schumann's Carnival (Op. 9), concluding with Hough’s witty and virtuosic transcription of music from Mary Poppins.
