Exhibition Introduction

SC Gallery proudly presents "Sculpting in Wind," the first solo exhibition in a decade by Hong Kong artist Ho Lok-chung. This exhibition showcases a brand-new series of ceramic works created during the artist's one-year residency in Jingdezhen, known as the "Porcelain Capital." The collection reflects the artist's evolution from his roots in painting and woodworking to his current mastery of ceramics.

Highlights

  • Interdisciplinary Vision: Ho Lok-chung masterfully integrates the linear aesthetics of painting and the structural logic of woodworking into his ceramic practice, transcending conventional ceramic art forms.
  • Wind-Sculpted Nature: Inspired by the theme of "Sculpting in Wind," the works utilize unique physical deformation processes to capture the resilient forms of trees shaped by harsh gusts.
  • Grand Scale: Featuring 14 works, including massive ceramic sculptures up to two meters wide, the exhibition showcases the artist's command of clay and material tension.
  • Natural Philosophy: Beyond tree forms, the artist explores geographical imprints such as wind-eroded rocks and tide-swept mudflats, reflecting on the symbiotic relationship between earth and wood.
