Program Overview
Mozart's three-act opera seria 'Lucio Silla', composed when he was just 16, is a brilliant early masterpiece that bridges Baroque tradition with his emerging dramatic genius. Set in Ancient Rome around 80 BC, the story follows the dictator Lucio Silla, who, having defeated his rival Gaius Marius, attempts to force Marius's daughter, Giunia, into marriage. Giunia, however, remains devoted to the exiled senator Cecilio, setting the stage for a tense struggle of love, betrayal, honour, and authority.
This production is helmed by the renowned director and producer Lo King-man, with music directed by conductor Sit Ngai-cheung, bringing together a talented ensemble of singers to interpret this epic exploration of human dignity.
