"Sheng Competition & Concert: New Resonance" is more than just a concert; it is a major artistic event integrating a professional Sheng performance competition and a composition selection. In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Department of Chinese Instruments at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra has partnered with the conservatory to organize this event. The project aims to discover and cultivate professional performers, foster the creation of contemporary Sheng music, and showcase the artistic excellence of the instrument.

Highlights

The showcase concert will feature the talented winners of the competition, artistically directed by the renowned Sheng performer and educator, Professor Zhong Zhiyue. These rising stars, representing the future of the art form, will perform a selection of competition pieces.
