Program Overview

This concert invites the audience on a musical journey across the vast landscapes of China, using the diverse tones of the Huqin family as a canvas. Beyond a mere survey of classic string instrument repertoires, this performance sketches the spirit and geography of the nation through music. The concert is conducted and arranged by the young conductor and composer Xiao Chao, who seamlessly blends traditional structures with contemporary aesthetics.

The concert is divided into six thematic chapters, showcasing the cultural soul of different regions:

1. Ancient Rhymes of the Central Plains: A connection to historical roots and civilization.
2. Mist and Rain of Jiangnan: Experiencing the gentle and lyrical atmosphere of the southern water towns.
3. Epic Songs of the Northwest: Capturing the majestic and heroic spirit of the high plateaus.
4. Sounds of the Grassland: Celebrating the vast and unbridled charm of the northern plains.
5. New Rhymes of Lingnan: The fresh and lively melodies of the southern region.
6. Colorful Yunnan: A vibrant display of the colorful minority cultures of the southwest.
