The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra (HKCO) proudly presents the Final Concert of the 5th International Conducting Competition for Chinese Music. Following an intense journey through preliminary and semi-final stages, the most talented rising conductors from around the globe converge in Hong Kong for this prestigious concluding event.

The Competition Journey

This competition has established itself as the premier platform for fostering excellence in Chinese music conducting. Since its inception, it has provided a vital arena for young conductors to showcase their skills, interpretative depth, and leadership. For this 49th Concert Season, the HKCO collaborated with the Wuxi Chinese Orchestra, hosting earlier rounds in Wuxi where participants engaged in cultural exchange and immersive 'cai-feng' (field research) to better understand the nuances of Jiangnan-style traditional music.

The Final Concert will be held on June 28, 2026, at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall. Under the baton of three brilliant finalists, the HKCO will perform a curated selection of repertoire. These pieces are designed to test the limits of the conductors' technical precision and their ability to evoke emotion through the ensemble.
