Sai Kung Tin Hau Temple Square, Sai Kung, Hong Kong

The annual Sai Kung Tin Hau Festival Fair 2026 returns to the heart of Sai Kung from May 21st to May 25th, 2026. Organized by the Sai Kung Neighborhood Association, this event celebrates the goddess Tin Hau and preserves the rich heritage of Hong Kong’s maritime culture through a series of festive activities.

The Cultural Heart of Sai Kung

This festival is truly unique as it remains the only celebration in Hong Kong where the festivities occupy a major town square. A massive 14-meter-high bamboo theatre (known as the 'Dragon Boat Factory' stage) will be erected across the town square, roads, and basketball courts, seamlessly integrating the performance space into the community's daily life. Attendees can expect a mix of religious rituals, traditional Chinese arts, and community festivities that honor the Tin Hau Temple in Sai Kung.

Highlights of the Fair

  • Cantonese Opera Performances: Traditional troupes will perform classic operas, a staple of the festival that draws both locals and tourists.
  • Lively Market Stalls: Explore over 60 stalls offering a variety of goods, including handmade crafts, creative products, and delicious street food.
  • Lion and Unicorn Dances: Cultural parades and traditional performances will animate the streets of Sai Kung throughout the five-day period.
  • Exhibitions & Guided Tours: Visitors can gain deeper insights into the history of the temple and the significance of local customs through dedicated exhibitions and guided heritage tours.
