Overview
Shakespeare4All (S4A) returns with its highly anticipated annual performance in 2026, featuring a fresh and innovative adaptation of the Shakespearean classic, As You Like It, titled As You Like It: Legend of Olympus. Directed and adapted by Nicholas Beckwith, this production reimagines the classic comedy against the backdrop of Greek mythology. It retains the original themes of love, fate, free will, and transformation, while weaving in the magical atmosphere of the Forest of Arden and the influence of the Greek gods.
Highlights
- Youth Empowerment through Art: The performance features a cast and crew of over 100 youths, including 60 actors aged 8 to 16, alongside talented young musicians. After six weeks of intensive training, they are ready to demonstrate their creative growth and professionalism.
- All-English Production: This is a fully English-language performance, aiming to foster language proficiency and self-confidence among participants while offering high-quality English-language theatre to the Hong Kong public.
- Professional Production Values: Supported by professional theatre artists, the show features live orchestral music, elaborate costume designs, and professional stage lighting to ensure a captivating experience.
- Inclusivity & Community: An accessible performance with sign language interpretation will be held on September 12th to ensure inclusivity. The project continues to drive arts education and community engagement throughout Hong Kong.
