Course Introduction

Pottery figure art carries rich historical significance, from ancient terracotta warriors to exquisite Han and Tang dynasty court ladies, all showcasing the unique plastic nature of the ceramic medium. This course will guide students into the world of ceramics, mastering core techniques of pottery figure creation through systematic instruction.

• Combining History and Technique: Gain insights into the history of pottery figures while analyzing human facial proportions and structures.
• Diverse Sculpting Techniques: Learn fundamental ceramic methods, including hand-building, coiling, slab building, piercing, and throwing.
• Creative Expression: Students may choose between stylized, minimalist approaches or realistic detailing to create their own ceramic figures up to 30cm in size.
• Professional Guidance: Taught by instructor Lee Tsz-leung, this course is suitable for beginners interested in pottery.
