Highlights
Designed for English-speaking students, this course provides a systematic exploration of Chinese traditional arts. From basic calligraphy strokes to the subtle art of painting bamboo, orchids, and landscapes, students will gain a deeper understanding of the history and cultural heritage behind Chinese calligraphy and painting.
Program
Guided by the philosophy of "Ink to Brush, Brush to Rice Paper," students will experience the creative journey of traditional Chinese art. Key learning areas include:
- The history and development of Chinese calligraphy and painting.
- Understanding the five major scripts: Regular, Running, Cursive, Clerical, and Seal scripts.
- Appreciation of Eastern Han clerical scripts and the running script styles of Wang Xizhi.
- Exploring the symbolic meanings and techniques of the "Four Gentlemen" (Orchid, Bamboo).
- Creating original paintings focusing on flora, fauna, and landscapes.
