Highlights
"Buddha You Run 2026" is an annual trail running event hosted by the Po Lin Monastery, with the support of Ngong Ping 360 and Kwoon Chung Bus. More than just a race, it is a spiritual and nature-focused challenge. Participants have the rare opportunity to run up the steps of the Big Buddha, a unique feature that tests endurance while providing breathtaking views of Lantau Peak.
Program & Categories
The event offers a variety of categories to suit different skill levels:
- 18km Challenge: A demanding route that traverses the third section of the Lantau Trail and the summit of Lantau Peak.
- 8km and 3km: Suitable for a wider range of participants.
- Family Categories: Designed for family bonding, including a special "3-Generation" category, encouraging participants of all ages to complete the race together.
Registration & Perks
Registration includes return transportation via the Ngong Ping 360 cable car or designated shuttle buses. All registered participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt and a generous runner's kit. Finishers within the time limit will be awarded medals and certificates, with trophies awarded to top performers in each category.
Important Notes
- Sustainability: Runners are highly encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles to reduce waste.
- Safety: The 18km and 8km routes are challenging; previous trail running experience and physical readiness are recommended.
- Family Rules: Children in the family categories must complete the race on their own; no carrying is allowed. In the 3-generation category, all three participants must reach the finish line together for the official time to be recorded.
- Severe Weather: In case of a Red/Black Rainstorm signal or Typhoon Signal No. 3 or above within 12 hours before the start, the event will be cancelled.
Venue & Access
The race begins at the Ngong Ping Piazza on Lantau Island. Participants can use their pre-arranged transport, including the cable car or shuttle bus, for a convenient and scenic journey to the starting point.
