Program Overview
Written by acclaimed contemporary American playwright Donald Margulies, Time Stands Still is a poignant exploration of life, truth, and perspective. The story follows Sarah, a war photojournalist who sustains serious injuries from a bomb blast while on assignment. Forced to return home to her apartment, she must navigate the complexities of a domestic life with her boyfriend, James, also a war reporter. Once accustomed to "freezing" life-or-death moments in war zones, Sarah finds that the calm of everyday life is deceptive, as old secrets and betrayals surface, causing internal turmoil. A visit from an editor and his younger companion brings the contrast between domestic comfort and the brutal reality of the battlefield into sharp focus. As the camera she once relied on becomes less certain, the characters are forced to face their life choices and the fragility of their relationships.
