Highlights
The 'Deforestation Animal School' exhibition, curated by picture book artist and map illustrator Maoshan Connie, invites readers into a world where forests, cities, and animals intersect. Using a unique visual language and narrative, this exhibition is more than just a display of books—it is an immersive journey of reflection on life, perfect for families and individual readers interested in environmental and animal rights issues.
Program Introduction
The core of the exhibition stems from a simple yet profound premise: 'A bear wakes up from hibernation only to find the forest has disappeared.' Through a curation of thirty insightful picture books, the exhibition explores five distinct perspectives:
- Urban Expansion and Life Reflection: Reflecting on how urban development reshapes animal habitats.
- Animal Perspective: Experiencing the world through the eyes of our animal counterparts.
- Breeding and Adoption: Confronting the realities of breeding farms and promoting the value of adoption over shopping.
- Food Sources: Re-evaluating the connection between our modern diet and the rights of other living beings.
- Interspecies Love and Farewell: Navigating the profound bonds between humans and animals, and how we cope with loss and separation.
