Highlights
First developed in the 1970s, Hughes's unique artistic approach draws inspiration from his childhood experiences sheltering beneath stairs during World War II, where he would contemplate the geometric shapes above him. Today, he masterfully applies this concept to architectural landscapes, including mazes, libraries, and galleries, as well as iconic Venetian scenery. As the viewer moves, these works appear to come alive, blurring the lines between reality and illusion.
