As a highlight of the City Contemporary Dance Festival 2026, "HOTPOT East Asia Dance Platform" - China Session I presents three distinct contemporary dance works. This performance showcases the diverse tensions and artistic visions of emerging Chinese choreographers, exploring themes from memory to bodily rebellion.
Featured Works
"Before It Disappears" Directed, choreographed, and performed by Wang Liqi, this piece delves into the solitude within the depths of memory. Through a tapestry of past emotions—love, conflict, and forgetting—it captures the final echoes of unspoken words. Featuring Clara Neisha, Xiong Yilin, and Yu Zhixuan.
"VEX" Choreographed and directed by Ouyang Jing and Wu Xinyu, this work is a rebellion of the body. With movements like grinding gears and nervous tremors, it tears open internal folds, exploring a raw, visceral energy that drives the cycle of life and renewal.
"Sequelae" Choreographed by Gao Rong and performed by Mao Yiru, this piece focuses on the lingering, anomalous states of the body or mind, offering a poignant psychological reflection.
