Highlights
The "HOTPOT East Asia Dance Platform" (Korea Edition) brings together four top-tier Korean dance groups to showcase the diverse vitality of the Korean dance scene. Through works that span from traditional roots to contemporary societal reflections, the performance invites the audience to traverse the boundaries of tradition, social questions, and future imagination, offering an avant-garde artistic experience ranging from Shamanistic rituals to experimental choreography fused with psychedelic beats.
Program
The evening features four distinct Korean contemporary dance works:
- "Aura": Choreographed and performed by LEE Eisul. An elegy for the lonely departed, this piece mourns those whose lives were claimed by cold machinery in the workplace, constantly questioning the deeper meaning of human survival.
- "Bride Mask": Choreographed and performed by JUNG Bo Kyung. Inspired by the "Hahoe Byeolsingut Talnori" mask dance, the work translates the history of suppressed and silenced women into precise, ritualistic, and highly emotive physical language.
- "Are You Guilty?": Choreographed by Kim Min. Centered on the psychological concept of the "Bystander Effect," three dancers engage in a rhythmic physical battle, revealing the fragility of human nature and the shifting power dynamics between perpetrators, victims, and bystanders.
- "Dance Into Trance": Choreographed and performed by CHOI Jong-in. Inspired by the Korean tour bus dance culture, this piece invites the audience to step into a vibrant dance floor to release daily stress and engage in a "dopamine detox" through immersive movement.
