Yeung Ming Cantonese Opera Troupe proudly presents "Ming Gong Xiu 2.0," following the enthusiastic response of the first edition. This performance is more than just an auditory and visual treat; it serves as a platform for cultural transmission, where renowned artist Liu Huiming leads a group of promising young actors to delve into the essence of classic Cantonese opera excerpts. Through rigorous rehearsals and collaboration, the troupe is committed to inspiring the creative potential of a new generation of performers, bringing the artistic charm of traditional opera to modern audiences, allowing the traditional art to burst with new vitality in the hands of the new generation.

Program

The performance features a selection of classic plays. Each segment is a collaborative effort between Liu Huiming and various partners, showcasing subtle emotional layers and solid stage techniques:

• "The Broken Carriage" (碎鑾輿): Starring Lin Xinling
• "The Heavenly Match" (天仙配): Starring Zi Lingqiu
• "The Gift of the Sword at Hundred Flower Pavilion" (百花亭贈劍): Starring Xin Rong
• "Farewell at Yi River" (易水送荊軻): Starring Luo Yan
• "The Butterfly Lovers - The Meeting at the Pavilion" (樓台會): Starring Huang Anqing
• "The Golden Branch" (打金枝): Starring Chen Jiaxi

This is not only a stage practice but a heartfelt tribute to the heritage of Cantonese opera.

Tickets are now on sale with prices at HKD 420, 340, 280, and 240. Half-price concessions are available for full-time students, senior citizens aged 60 and above, people with disabilities and their caretakers, and recipients of the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) scheme.
