Celebrating the decennial Kat O Bun Festival, this specially curated program invites the public to dive into the cultural vitality of Kat O. Through professionally guided tours, participants will experience the intersection of traditional bamboo theatre craftsmanship, history, and contemporary art.
Program Overview
This combo ticket includes both the 'Art Guided Tour' and 'History Guided Tour':
- Art Guided Tour: Led by artists, this tour introduces four major art installations on the island, including cat installations by Dominique Chan, painting and installations by Ip Man and Wu Ka-yiu, large-scale outdoor installations by Lam Laam and Li Man-sang, and the community art project 'Mai Kei Lo Beng' by Sze Ka-yan.
- Theatre Talks: Curators Dr. Wong King-chung and Sze Ka-yan will present historical and artistic insights within the traditional bamboo theatre, seamlessly connecting the art and history tour segments.
- History Guided Tour: Explore the historical cultural landscape of Kat O and immerse yourself in the heritage of Chinese culture.
Performers & Guides
Co-presented by The Conservancy Association and Fragrant Village, and supported by the Arts Capacity Development Funding Scheme. The guide team includes:
- Dr. Wong King-chung (Guide, Senior Conservation Manager of The Conservancy Association)
- Sze Ka-yan (Guide/Artist, Founder of Fragrant Village)
- Artists: Dominique Chan, Ip Man, Wu Ka-yiu, Lam Laam, Li Man-sang, Chan Ho-yuen.
Venue & Access
Gathering point is at Kat O Pier. As Kat O is located in a restricted area, participants must arrange their own transport, preferably via ferry from Sha Tau Kok. You must apply for a 'Closed Area Permit (Individual)' at least 5 days before the event. Please note that ferry schedules may change, and participants should allow extra time to walk to the boarding point at Sha Tau Kok Public Pier.
Ticketing & Important Notes
- Combo Ticket Price: HKD 200 (Includes both tours)
- Eligibility: Limited to participants aged 10-70, and only open to Hong Kong residents with a HKID card.
- Notes: The tour proceeds in small groups. To ensure you are grouped with friends or family, please purchase tickets for all attendees in a single transaction. Late arrivals will not be accommodated, and fees are non-refundable.
