Acclaimed conductor Teodor Currentzis and the musicAeterna orchestra return to the Xinghai Concert Hall in Guangzhou for an all-Beethoven program. This performance distinguishes itself by utilizing period-informed instruments and historical tuning (A=430 Hz), aiming to recapture the original textures and dramatic intensity inherent in Beethoven's compositions. Currentzis is celebrated for his daring and transformative interpretations. Together with musicAeterna, an ensemble renowned for its sonic precision and emotional depth, the performance promises to breathe new life into these monumental works.

Program

The concert features a selection of three masterpieces by Ludwig van Beethoven, ranging from the dramatic overture to the epic scope of his symphonies.

• Coriolan Overture, Op. 62: A work defined by concentrated dramatic conflict and driving motifs, compressing the struggle between will and fate into a few intense minutes.
• Symphony No. 4 in B-flat major, Op. 60: Moving from the dark atmosphere of the adagio introduction to a bright, agile, and kinetic musical world, showcasing Beethoven's mastery of rhythm, timbre, and form.
• Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92: The grand finale of the second half, renowned for its relentless rhythmic drive, from the restrained solemnity of the second movement to the unstoppable energy of the finale, creating a powerful dramatic arc.
