Lalaverie Gallery is a newly opened photography space in Sheung Wan, founded on the concept of being "non-profit." It is dedicated to providing a platform for local emerging photographers, curators, and collectors, offering not only space rental but also facilities such as darkrooms, professional printing, and framing services to foster the healthy growth of local photography.

Program

As its inaugural exhibition, the gallery proudly presents twelve representative works by French photography master Bernard Faucon. Recognized as a pioneer of "Mise-en-scène" photography in the 1970s and 1980s, Faucon holds an esteemed position in international photography, with many of his works held in permanent collections of major contemporary art museums. The works on display are all produced using the "Fresson" carbon printing technique, a rare process dating back to the 19th century in France, which imparts a unique texture and historical depth.

The exhibition showcases three of his signature series:

• Les Grandes Vacances: Intertwining mannequins with children, Faucon crafts a visual poem of timeless childhood summers.
• Les Chambres d’amour: Through the interplay of light and shadow, the series explores the aesthetics of absence, focusing on room interiors, textures, and drapery.
• The Scriptures: Translating poetic thoughts into physical form, these works feature hand-carved wooden sculptures placed in natural landscapes, imprinting abstract philosophical inquiries into the scene.

Venue & Access

Spanning approximately 700 square feet, the gallery features a distinctive design with reddish concrete flooring, soft yellow-toned walls, and a curated selection of Chinese and Western furniture, ensuring a comfortable, home-like environment for viewing art. Located at G/F, 2 Po Yan Street, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong, the gallery welcomes art enthusiasts to experience this profound dialogue between French aesthetics and traditional photographic craftsmanship.
