Walk for Nature 2026: Wetland Guardians Assemble

Highlights

"Walk for Nature 2026", organized by WWF-Hong Kong, is a flagship event blending environmental education, charity fundraising, and ecological immersion. Participants are invited to enter the Mai Po Nature Reserve as "Wetland Guardians." This immersive experience allows you to explore the secrets of biodiversity, gain insights into the wisdom of conservation experts, traditional gei wai fishermen, and the cultural heritage of local villagers in San Tin, all while contributing to the protection of our precious wetland ecosystem.

Program

"Walk for Nature" is more than just a walk; it is an interactive learning journey. Along the route, various challenges will enable participants to discover the ecological value of Mai Po, the mysteries of intertidal zones, and the impact of climate change on wetlands. The event is perfect for all ages, open to anyone aged 5 or above (those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult), making it a wonderful opportunity for family bonding and connecting with nature.

Additionally, premium experiences are available for booking (additional fees apply, quotas are limited):

• Floating Boardwalk Guided Tour: Accompanied by professional guides, walk the floating boardwalk to observe intertidal ecosystems (suitable for ages 8+).
• Paddy Field Guided Tour: Step into the rice paddies to observe rice and birds, and learn about the reasons for and challenges of planting rice in Mai Po (suitable for ages 5+).
• San Tin Culture Tour: Led by San Tin villagers, explore historical landmarks such as Tai Fu Tai Mansion and Tung Shan Temple to understand the history of the Man clan (suitable for ages 5+).

Ticketing

Registration is now open. An Early Bird offer is available for those who sign up on or before October 18, 2026, granting a 30% discount. All proceeds serve as donations to support WWF's conservation efforts. Receipts for donations of HK$100 or more will be provided for tax deduction purposes.

Venue & Access

The event takes place at Mai Po Nature Reserve. Free shuttle bus services between MTR Yuen Long Station and Mai Po are provided. Participants are strongly advised to reserve their preferred shuttle bus slots during registration to ensure seamless travel to and from the site.
