Man Mei-to x Lau Ching-hei 'Non-duality of Body and Land' Mixed Media and Painting Joint Exhibition

Overview

SC Gallery is pleased to host 'Non-duality of Body and Land,' a collaborative exhibition featuring Hong Kong artists Man Mei-to and Lau Ching-hei. The exhibition takes the Buddhist philosophical concept of 'the oneness of body and land'—where one's actions and environment are deeply intertwined—as its conceptual foundation. By utilizing a blend of mixed media and painting, both artists examine the dialectical relationship between the 'body' (representing physical form and personal experience) and the 'land' (representing one's roots and the external environment).

Artistic Concept

The artists translate their profound somatic experiences and knowledge absorbed from their native soil into a visual language. In an era where geographical and environmental stability is increasingly challenged, they explore the 'lines' of balance and the 'intensity' of presence within their work. The exhibition utilizes a subtle and understated color palette, piecing together fragments of the physical body and environmental textures. Through this, they map their observations of the broader world onto canvas and multimedia installations. This body of work serves not only as a reflection on personal existence but also as a poignant inquiry into the symbiotic relationship between humanity and the environment.
