Presented by WMA, Bones of Our Land is a profound new commissioned exhibition that brings together the creative vision of artist Tsz-wai Poon and the scientific rigor of ecologist Coşkun Güçlü. Set against the backdrop of an ecological restoration project on Tai Mo Shan, this exhibition serves as a vital bridge between scientific investigation and artistic interpretation.
The Concept: Mapping Deep Time
At the heart of Bones of Our Land lies the idea of the soil as a living archive. By combining video art, sound installations, archival records, field research, and soil DNA analysis, the exhibition traces the layers of geological and human history embedded within the landscape. The artists examine how volcanic terrain, agricultural heritage, the trauma of hill fires, colonial history, and modern environmental restoration all exist simultaneously within the same physical space. This exhibition challenges us to perceive 'time' not as a linear sequence, but as a complex web where the past, present, and future continuously echo.
