"Breakthrough Journey" Osaka Expo Dance Screening and Artist Sharing Session

Overview

Experience a powerful exploration of inclusive art as the Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong and BiG-i International Communication Center for Persons with Disabilities present the "Breakthrough Journey" dance screening and artist sharing session. Originally premiered at the 2025 Osaka Expo, this dance drama brought together 95 dancers from 11 regions around the world, showcasing the limitless possibilities of inclusive performance. This event offers Hong Kong audiences a unique opportunity to revisit this inspiring collaborative journey.

Highlights

More than just a screening, this event is designed as an immersive cultural and creative exchange:

• Dance Film Screening: A 103-minute screening of the performance, allowing audiences to witness the vibrant encounter of diverse nationalities, languages, and physical abilities on stage. The film features Chinese and English subtitles.
• Artist Sharing: Following the screening, key creators from the project will join an insightful discussion. They will share stories about the creative process and the challenges and joys of international collaboration. The sharing session will be conducted in Cantonese and Japanese, with real-time interpretation (Japanese to Cantonese) and Hong Kong Sign Language interpretation provided.

  • Suzuki Kyoko: Producer of "Breakthrough Journey," Art Director and Deputy Director of BiG-i.
  • Mizuki Kajimoto: Performer in "Breakthrough Journey" and member of the dance troupe BOTAN.
• Hong Kong Team:
  • Cyrus Hui: Choreographer of "Breakthrough Journey" (Hong Kong Scene), Art Director of Siu Lung Fung Dance Theatre.
  • Kingsan Lo: Performer in "Breakthrough Journey" and contemporary dancer.
  • Shadow Kid (To Chun-hing): Performer in "Breakthrough Journey" and breakdancer.

The event will be held at the Hong Kong Friendly協進會演講廳, Xiqu Centre (2/F, Xiqu Centre, West Kowloon Cultural District, 88 Austin Road West, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon).
