About the Exhibition
The Mills in Tsuen Wan has unveiled a brand-new visual landmark: a nearly 45-meter-long mural. Curated by the renowned art organization HKWALLS, this project brings together six diverse design teams—including Katol Lo, Make & Do HK, Brainrental, GILIGULU, and LeeeeeToy—to breathe new vitality into this historic site.
Highlights
This massive mural serves as an intricate narrative scroll divided into three thematic chapters:
- "Footprints of the Textile Mill": Designer Katol utilizes unique typography to recount the glorious history of Hong Kong's textile industry, incorporating elements of the Tsuen Wan community. Complementing this, Make & Do HK presents intricate woven bird patterns that reflect the local ecology.
- "Connecting the Present": Created by Brainrental, this section is filled with the wit and charm of contemporary urban life, capturing the facets of modern society through large-scale illustrations.
- "Weaving the Future": A collaboration between GILIGULU and LeeeeeToy, this chapter is filled with forward-looking optimism, presenting a vision of harmony and coexistence through vibrant, colorful designs.
This exhibition integrates painting, graphic design, and installation art. It stands not only as a striking visual landmark but also as an excellent photo spot for families, art lovers, and the local community to enjoy.
