Overview

What does it mean to develop a career in jazz music in Hong Kong? For musicians Nelson Fung and Jonas Cho, jazz is far more than just a genre—it is a continuous process of listening, improvising, and fostering meaningful exchanges. In this session, they will share their musical journeys through live performance, improvisation, and discussion, exploring the challenges and creative process of finding one's unique jazz voice in Hong Kong.

The event also delves into the development of the local jazz community, discussing how artists can establish their identity and voice through performance, collaboration, and mutual exchange.

Performers

• Nelson Fung: Jazz musician and active contributor to the local jazz scene.
• Jonas Cho: Jazz musician engaged in various interdisciplinary music performances.

Both artists are key members of Fountain de Chopin. Established in 2021, Fountain de Chopin is a platform dedicated to making jazz music accessible through live concerts, educational programs, and community building, often exploring the intersection of jazz with poetry, philosophy, and urban life.
