Overview

"Ruby" is an original Cantonese musical produced by The Isle Theatre. The story follows a transgender woman named Ruby who, after leaving her home, settles in a bar in Central, Hong Kong. From her initial struggles to becoming a star performer and eventually taking over the bar, Ruby builds her own identity and sense of "home." The production features twelve entirely new original songs that trace the character's journey, exploring profound themes of identity, migration, love, and family.

This presentation takes the form of a staged reading, focusing on the core narrative and showcasing the creators' commitment to storytelling through solid original music and sincere acting.
