Mui Cheuk-yin, Leung Siu-wai, Li Pui-yan: 'Peony Mirror' Crossover Dance

Program Overview

"Peony Mirror" is a crossover performance commemorating the 40th anniversary of Mui Cheuk-yin's solo piece "The Peony Pavilion." This production intricately weaves together the four-hundred-year echoes of Tang Xianzu's classic heroine, Du Liniang, with the introspective journey of Lan Tianyu. By colliding three distinct art forms—dance, voice, and Cantonese opera—the production invites the audience into a profound philosophical exploration of life, death, dreams, and reality. Mui Cheuk-yin explores the flow of life through dance, Leung Siu-wai penetrates the four-century time gap with her voice, and Li Pui-yan embodies the modern interpretation of Du Liniang from Tong Tik-sang’s "Peony Pavilion 70." It is an immersive experience of awakening and reflection.
