Program Overview
"Body and Materials - Improvisation Workshop" is an interdisciplinary dance event presented by Y-Space as part of the "i-Dance Festival (HK) 2026". This workshop aims to break the traditional frameworks of dance by guiding participants to treat construction materials—such as wood, fabrics, and foam—as collaborative partners in choreography. Instructor Chan Ting-cheung will guide participants through a creative path involving "Material Perception," "Body Response," and "Collaborative Choreography," exploring the ritualistic sense of movement found within the processes of building and deconstructing.
Highlights
- Interdisciplinary Practice: Explore the fusion of contemporary dance and construction materials, redefining the interaction between the body and the environment.
- Immersive Experience: More than just dance, it is a dialogue between physical properties and body movement.
- Creative Inspiration: Learn to perceive materials as dynamic partners rather than passive props or backdrops.
