An Artistic Intersection of Sound and Thread

As part of the prestigious Le French May 2026, Harpadise presents A Musical Journey, a captivating crossover performance that transcends the traditional boundaries of classical concerts. This unique production weaves together the delicate resonance of the harp, the expressive power of vocal art, and the meticulous visual craftsmanship of French embroidery.

The Programme

The concert features a curated selection of 14 art songs composed by seven iconic French masters. Audiences can look forward to masterpieces by composers such as Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, and Léo Delibes. Unlike a standard recital, this performance integrates live embroidery art by Zeng Liyu, transforming the stage into a living canvas where the music's emotional landscape is visually mirrored by the rhythmic movement of the needle.

Meet the Artists

  • Zhang Ying (Soprano): A versatile vocal artist active in Hong Kong, known for her contributions to both choral and solo repertoires, including performances at St. John's Cathedral and the Hong Kong Chinese University.
  • Li Aiqiao (Harpist): A distinguished harpist with extensive international experience, having collaborated with orchestras such as the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. She is dedicated to exploring new repertoire for the harp and voice.
  • Zeng Liyu (Embroidery Artist): Trained at the renowned École Lesage in Paris, Zeng brings the sophisticated technique of haute couture embroidery to the stage, bridging the gap between fashion craft and performance art.
