Program

This is a 6-session foundation course where students will gain an in-depth understanding of charcoal and related materials, including blending tools and various paper types, while mastering essential drawing techniques. The course content covers:

  • Session 1: Introduction - Learn about types of charcoal and fundamental techniques such as pen-holding, brushwork, and shading.
  • Session 2: Shape & Composition - Master basic form, proportions, and rendering of geometric shapes like spheres and cylinders.
  • Session 3: Still Life Sketching - Enhance tonal contrast and detail to express emotions through still life studies.
  • Session 4: Flora Sketching - Explore specific techniques for representing textures of petals and leaf veins.
  • Session 5: Animal Sketching - Capture the characteristics of animals like cats and dogs, with demonstrations on how to depict fur texture.
  • Session 6: Landscape Foundation - Apply principles of perspective and distance to create natural atmospheric effects.
