Highlights

A centerpiece of the "Chinese Culture Festival", this showcase brings together elite martial artists from four major Peking Opera troupes: Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Hubei. The programme offers a comprehensive exploration of the "Full Armour" (Da Wusheng) tradition, highlighting the distinct techniques of both northern and southern schools through an array of classic "long-armour" and "short-strike" repertoire.

Program

The series takes place at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre over three days, with a unique program each night:

  • 26 June (19:30): Featuring "The Night Flight of Lin Chong" and the classic "The Long Slope & Hanjinkou". Zhao Hongyun explores the tragic heroism of Lin Chong, followed by a fierce epic battle featuring Xi Zhonglu, Wei Xuelei, and Chen Lin.
  • 27 June (19:30): A vibrant night featuring "Carrying the War-Car", "Wusong at the Inn", and "The Pavilion of Gorgeous Sun". Wang Daxing tackles the challenging acrobatics of "Carrying the War-Car", while Wang Xilong demonstrates the refined techniques of the "painted-face" martial role.
  • 28 June (14:30): The finale includes "Zhong Kui Marrying Off His Sister", "Seven Heroes", "Crossroads", and "Iron Cage Mountain". Xi Zhonglu concludes the series, showcasing the unwavering power of a master martial artist.
