Overview
"You clear my home, I clear my conscience."
Family Clears is a poignant solo play that delves into family memories and the shifting landscapes of land ownership. The narrative centers on a squatter hut in Tin Sam Village—the cornerstone of three generations of the Li family. Faced with government land reclamation, the protagonist chooses to engage constructively, turning the situation into an introspective journey through his family's history.
Following the tremendous success of its premiere last year, which featured eight sold-out performances, performer Lai Chai-ming returns to the stage to share this deep, moving account of human bonds, the land we occupy, and the changing times.
