Overview
Colored ballpoint pens are ideal tools for artistic expression due to their portability. By mastering pen pressure control and layering techniques, one can achieve both the delicate details of a pencil sketch and vibrant, saturated blocks of color. Their oil-based, waterproof, and lightfast ink ensures the longevity of your artwork. This course is designed to unlock the creative potential of ballpoint pens, teaching you how to select the right paper, master line control, color mixing, and shading, ultimately helping you build a portfolio that reflects your personal style.
Program
The course spans six sessions, focusing on hands-on practice:
- Session 1: Introduction to pen types, paper textures, and six core techniques (line control, gradient, flat filling, pointillism, layering, and error correction).
- Session 2: Mastering light and shadow on geometric shapes through cross-hatching.
- Session 3: Texture representation (fur, smooth surfaces) and advanced error correction with white gel pens.
- Session 4: Color theory, color compression, and mixing (creating volume using three colors plus black).
- Session 5: Controlling depth of field and spatial layering.
- Session 6: Introduction to portrait sketching.
