This is a cross-disciplinary course that blends modern technology with traditional craftsmanship. Participants will learn how to leverage FDM 3D printing technology to create custom pottery tools and molds, significantly expanding the possibilities of their ceramic practice.

Program

The way we work with clay is constantly evolving, and 3D printing brings a fresh dynamic to the craft. This course will cover basic 3D software design skills and instruct students on preparing files for FDM printing. Students will learn to create unique, custom-made tools that can be applied to both hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. No prior experience in 3D modeling is required; all that is needed is an interest in the intersection of technology and art.
