The Art of Measurement: 'Ruler & Space' Exhibition
Welcome to 'Ruler & Space' (尺.間), a captivating collaborative exhibition presented by ZLab (哲間) and Ontem Collect (昔貯). This immersive experience invites you to explore the intersection of functional tools, craftsmanship, and philosophical contemplation. From ancient times to the modern era, the 'ruler' has been more than a tool—it represents the human quest for standards, order, and the understanding of the physical world.
Exhibition Highlights
This exhibition serves as a profound cultural feast, where art, design, and philosophy converge. Visitors can engage with guided tours and interactive sharings to appreciate the multi-faceted nature of the objects we use daily. Key highlights include:
- Ganchetsky Series: Designer Joseph To (杜源祥), founder of Ontem Collect, makes his debut with his playful and thought-provoking 'Ganchetsky' original collection. Drawing from his background as an interior designer, his passion for collecting unique rulers across the globe culminates in this creative exploration of 'the sky of rulers'.
- 'Measuring the World with the Body': Art Director of ZLab, sculptor Zhang Zhe (張哲), explores the philosophy of measurement. He posits that while external rulers measure dimensions, internal standards weigh our morals, principles, and boundaries. His new sculpture series challenges traditional forms and invites viewers to reconsider the 'heaviness' and 'lightness' of life.
