About the Master Artisan
Xia Zhongjian, widely recognized as a "Paper Craft King" in Hong Kong, has dedicated decades to the intricate art of traditional paper crafting. Known for his record-breaking large-scale lantern installations, Master Xia brings a wealth of experience, stories, and refined techniques to this workshop. Participants will gain insight into his professional journey, the challenges of preserving a traditional trade, and the fascinating history of paper crafting in Hong Kong.

This workshop is designed for those who appreciate handmade craftsmanship and cultural heritage. The session features:
- Sharing Session: An engaging conversation with Master Xia about the evolution of the industry, the intersection of tradition and innovation, and his personal dedication to the craft.
- Hands-on Workshop: A guided practical session focusing on the creation of the "[六角花燈]" (Hexagonal Lantern). Participants will learn fundamental skills, including:
- Bending bamboo strips (zhumi) to form the lantern skeleton.
- Applying fabric or paper coverings with precision.
- Adding decorative embellishments to complete a personalized piece.
No prior experience is necessary, making this an ideal activity for anyone aged 12 and above who wishes to connect with their creativity and the city's rich craft heritage.
