The 'Giants Series' is dedicated to honouring legendary figures in theatre history. The premiere of this series features 'The Price', a classic play written by American playwright Arthur Miller in 1968. Having been performed globally—including a highly successful run at the Theatre Royal Bath and London's West End in 2018—the play remains a powerful testament to Miller's mastery. This staged reading format allows audiences to focus intimately on the intricate character development and compelling dialogue inherent in Miller's writing.

Program

The story follows Victor, who sacrificed his education to care for his father during the Great Depression. Thirty years later, upon returning to his childhood home to dispose of the old house and its contents, he encounters his wife, his estranged brother, and a shrewd furniture dealer. As they sort through the family's possessions, long-buried grievances and complex domestic tensions surface, forcing each character to confront the price of their past sacrifices.

Performers

This Hong Kong premiere is translated and directed by Wu Hoi-fai. The cast includes the Hong Kong Drama Awards Best Actor winner Leung Man-kit, alongside veteran performers Lau Shek-yin, So Yuk-fai, and Cheung Pui-tak, who will bring this intense work to life.

The event will take place at the Lecture Hall, 5/F, Sheung Wan Civic Centre. Attendees can reach the venue via the Sheung Wan MTR Station, located within the Sheung Wan Municipal Services Building.
