Overview

'Migratory Birds' was a highlight of the first HK Rep 'Kite Project'. After two rounds of meticulous script readings and refinements, this deeply moving exploration of life and dialogue is finally being brought to the stage by 'Pencil Production'. The play invites audiences to reflect on the meaning of movement, freedom, and the search for belonging.

Plot

Seventeen-year-old Ada, frustrated by his future prospects and in conflict with his mother, runs away from home. Meanwhile, 78-year-old Uncle Hou, a life-long farmer, refuses to abandon the orchard left behind by his beloved, even as he faces an impending eviction crisis. When these two souls from different generations cross paths at the orchard, an approaching storm forces them to engage in a profound dialogue about life and their respective journeys.
