Overview
This summer, the annual street basketball spectacular hosted by Li-Ning, the "Li-Ning Bad5 Hong Kong Street Basketball Hybrid Challenge," returns to the city! Designed to uncover hidden gems in the local street basketball scene, this competition offers a platform for players to prove their skills under the most exciting tournament format. The champions will not only win over ten thousand HKD in prizes but will also earn the right to represent Hong Kong on the national stage and challenge for the overall national championship.
Tournament Highlight: 3x3 Plus 1x1
To maximize competitive intensity and entertainment, the tournament introduces the innovative "3x3 link 1x1" hybrid format:
- Teamwork Meets Individual Brilliance: Matches last for 10 minutes, beginning with 3-on-3 play.
- The Critical Pivot: As soon as one team hits 9 points, the game transitions into a "1-on-1" showdown.
- Victory Condition: The first team to reach 15 points wins. This format demands both team-oriented strategic play and the individual ability to dominate in a one-on-one scenario.
Event Details
- Eligibility: Open to individuals with HK, Macau, Taiwan, or mainland China identification, aged 16 to 35 (excluding CBA-registered players within the last 3 years or current HK Basketball Association A-Grade registered players). Teams must consist of 3-4 players.
- Preliminary Rounds (July 4 - July 5): Held at the iconic Kai Yip Recreation Centre (known as the "Golden Cage"). 48 teams will be split into two brackets for a single-elimination tournament to narrow down to the Top 16.
- Finals Week (July 25 - July 26): Held at Tuen Mun Town Plaza. The Top 16 teams will compete in a single-round-robin tournament to crown the ultimate street basketball king.
Rewards
Beyond the trophy and medals, the champions will receive over HK$10,000 in Li-Ning shopping vouchers and professional basketball gear sponsorship, equipping them for the national championship.
