Overview

A decade on, Wu Song returns! The Hong Kong Repertory Theatre presents 'Diary of Wu Song 2026', written and directed by Artistic Director Poon Wai-sum. Originally premiered in 2017, the production swept the 27th Hong Kong Drama Awards, winning Best Script and Outstanding Production. This 2026 revival introduces a fresh perspective, featuring a brand-new musical score by Chan Wai-fat. The story re-imagines Wu Song not just as a legendary tiger-slayer, but as an ordinary man struggling with unemployment and selling sesame cakes. His diary documents the absurdity of daily life, blending physical action with profound philosophical questions. This new production captures the rhythm of life—both in the smell of the cakes and the impact of every punch—as it searches for the meaning of living courageously in today's world.
