Overview

'Wayne McGregor: Living Archive' is a cutting-edge post-cinematic dance installation that challenges the boundaries of traditional stage performance, exploring the transformation and rebirth of the body. This collaborative project is produced by Hong Kong Baptist University, The Hong Kong Ballet, and Studio Wayne McGregor, with co-commissions from major international arts institutions.

Highlights

  • Immersive Technology: The 57-minute piece is housed within the 'nVis' immersive panoramic system, developed by Jeffrey Shaw and Sarah Kenderdine. It utilizes a 360-degree, 12K LED cylindrical structure delivering 26 million pixels for a stunning visual environment.
  • Intersection of Art and Tech: The work blends choreography, Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital imagery, and spatial sound. It is a creative collaboration between Wayne McGregor and visual artists Ravi Deepres and Theresa Baumgartner, reimagining the future of entertainment.
  • Intimate Experience: Limited to only 20 participants per session, this installation shatters the 'fourth wall,' inviting audience members into the heart of the performance to witness the dancers' movements up close.
  • Concurrent Exhibit: Visitors can also explore 'eMbody', an interactive experience within the nVis 3D cinema, where participants interact with virtual dancers, allowing body movements, sound, and light to converge in space.
